Breckenridge Extends Ski Season.. AGAIN!

Oops they did it again!! Yesterday, the Breckenridge Ski Resort announced yet another Ski Season extension! Bringing the total to three extensions this 2018/2019 Ski Season.

The most recent extension will push back Breckenridge’s closing day two more weekends, from Memorial Day (5/27/2019) to the new anticipated closing day of Sunday, June 9 2019. After a record-breaking Winter season and the abundance of Spring snowfall that has accumulated on top of what was already a jaw dropping amount of early and mid-season snow, this announcement is one that is being well received amongst both locals and others still chomping at the bit to get in those last few days on the mountain before putting up their skis or boards.

With over a foot of snow in the past 48 hours, conditions resemble those typically enjoyed in March rather than late May!

As of Wednesday morning, May 22nd, when the announcement was made, Breckenridge had reported 14 total inches of new snow within the previous 48 hours accounting for an remarkable total base depth of 454 inches – the likes of which have not been seen in almost a decade (2010-2011 reported a 511” base depth). As of current, the Ski Resort is operating its Zendo, Kensho & Independence SuperChairs on Peaks 6 and 7 and its T-Bar on Peak 8’s high-Alpine terrain and plans to continue these operations throughout the extended season (conditions permitting). The resort will remain open daily through the original anticipated Closing Day, May 27, and then shift to a weekend schedule, offering skiing and riding on Saturdays and Sundays (June 1-2 and June 8-9).
